Remembering Wendel today, a great father, grandfather, and uncle. His love for music took him around the world, sharing his incredible voice and spreading joy wherever he went. Though our paths went in different directions, the memories of his kind heart, bright spirit and sense of humor will always stay with me. Rest easy.

I have so many fond memories of Wendel throughout the years, he was a great brother- in- law and brought a lot of joy to our family and we always enjoyed listening to him sing whenever we got together! I would give anything to hear him sing Amanda one more time, I drove him crazy always asking him to sing that that was my favorite song that he sang you will be Miss Wendel, but never forgotten!

I am truly saddened to hear about the passing of Wendel. I discovered him and his music by accident. I purchased a collection of master tapes from early 80’s Gilley’s performances. Wendel’s performance masters were among the collection. He also sang a song with David Allan Coe. His voice, emotion, and songs really caught me and I became an instant fan! I wish I could have given him a copy of the performance, but now it is too late. I can only hope someone showed him the songs I posted on YouTube. God bless Wendel Adkins, a true country outlaw star.
